Happy 4th of July – America is an idea
America is unique in human history, a “great experiment” as Abraham Lincoln called our nation. America is unlike other countries that were founded on geography or race.
To be an American is to accept the unique ideas or principles on which America was founded. Philosopher Dennis Prager calls them “The American Trinity” and describes them as:
Liberty – personal freedom, a free economy, a small government, and the pursuit of happiness.
In God We Trust – America’s founders were all deeply religious and in agreement that the universal values that America embodies were derived from Biblical God-based principles and that America would lose its way and ultimately fail if it became godless.
E Pluribus Unum – out of many, one. No matter what our backgrounds and beliefs we come together as Americans. (1)
America was founded on these ideals; it has not been a perfect land (no land is) but has become a “light unto the nations” as it strives to achieve them. Many people gave their lives to defend and protect these ideals. We can take pride that America fought for liberty, stood strong and saved the world from the horrible isms of the last decades –
Nazism, Fascism and Communism.
The values that made America the unique land of freedom and opportunity it has become, and as a result the land of great wealth, continue to make it a magnet to millions of people all over the world searching for a better life. These values need to be taught to our children and their children so they are never forgotten.
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. – Abraham Lincoln
Questions and answers about chiropractic
Question: Can chiropractic help colic and infant vomiting?
Answer: Although a lot of people associate chiropractic with low back, neck and hip problems or headaches and migraines, chiropractic care doesn’t “treat” a particular disease. Rather it corrects a dangerous form of spine/nerve stress called the subluxation.
Infants may suffer from subluxations as a result of a difficult birth (especially when forceps or vacuum extraction are used) or a fall, in which case the child begins life with subluxations in his/her body and the potential for serious health problems any time in their life.
In fact, any time an infant has any health problems it is essential they be checked for subluxations. In this newsletter we’ve reported on case histories showing that babies and toddlers with colic, projectile vomiting, failure to thrive, sleeping problems, eczema, vision and hearing problems and many other conditions respond to chiropractic care.
Every baby and child should have a chiropractic checkup. They may not be able to complain about pain or a problem now, but we can locate and correct subluxations in them before they are able to verbalize their problems.
Traditional eating
Can you get adequate nutrition from a wholly plant-based diet?
Not only is it difficult to obtain adequate protein on a diet devoid of animal products, but such a diet often leads to deficiencies in many important minerals as well. This is because a largely vegetarian diet lacks the fat-soluble catalysts needed for mineral absorption. Furthermore, phytates in grains block absorption of calcium, iron, zinc, copper and magnesium.
Unless grains are properly prepared to neutralize phytates, the body may be unable to assimilate these minerals.
Zinc, iron, calcium, and other minerals from animal sources are more easily and readily absorbed. We should not underestimate the dangers of deficiencies of these minerals. The effects of calcium and iron deficiency are well known, those of zinc less so. Even a minor zinc deficient in pregnant animals results in offspring with deformities such as club feet, cleft palates, domed skulls and fused and missing ribs. In humans, zinc deficiency can cause learning disabilities and mental retardation. In men zinc depletion decreases fertility. Man’s best source of zinc is animal products, particularly oysters and red meat. (2)
And now for something completely different
This could really save someone's life. WATCH THE VIDEO. Many people know that when electrical lines fall on your car you shouldn’t get out of the car. But what do you do if a fire starts in the car? This is a good explanation. Hopefully no one will ever need to use this.
Don’t delete this one until you watch it. It’s short and sweet.

Did you know?
People who laugh a lot are much healthier than those who don't. Dr. Lee Berk at the Loma Linda School of Public Health in California found that laughing lowers levels of stress hormones, and strengthens the immune system. Six-year-olds have it best – they laugh an average of 300 times a day. Adults only laugh 15 to 100 times a day.
Researching Chiropractic
Chiropractic clinical case histories have been a regular feature of our patient newsletter since its inception. There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by chiropractic care?
Probably most of them.
High blood pressure and chiropractic. A 72-year-old man with a history of hypertension, arthritis, ringing/buzzing in the ears and numbness/burning in his shoulder sought out chiropractic care. He was on blood pressure medication for one year prior to beginning chiropractic care. During this time his blood pressure had decreased from a baseline of 174/94 to 150/90.
He had a history of traumas that included a motor vehicle accident, a fall from a tree, and a twenty-year involvement with Judo.
For the next three months the chiropractor located and corrected (adjusted) his vertebral subluxations.
His blood pressure decreased over the course of care to 132/80. Also his emotional/mental state, stress and life enjoyment, based on a self-rated survey, showed improvements in all categories. (3)
Pervasive developmental disorder. A 33-month-old boy was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). His symptoms included delays in communication, speech, cognitive function, gross and fine motor skills, “fist walking,” bruxism (grinding teeth), as well as delays in social and emotional development and in self-help skills.
He was on ADD medications, antidepressants, anti-seizure and antipsychotic medications to treat his symptoms. Medically there is no cure.
Chiropractic care consisted of the location and correction of his subluxations. After ten months of care his language skills had improved greatly and his sensory processing issues had reduced. His mother said, “He seems much more comfortable in his personal space.” In addition, his bruxism reduced, he was no longer “fist walking” and he had stopped swaying and rocking. His mother reported that he was also beginning to read at a level above his age.
He continues to improve in areas of socializing and continues with chiropractic care. (4)
Upper back pain, numbness and “nerve feelings” in the hands (T4 Syndrome). A 64-year-old woman was suffering from upper back pain, numbness and strange nerve sensations in her hands. She was diagnosed with T4 Syndrome.
Subluxations were located in the upper back that appeared to affect nerves to the upper limbs.
Chiropractic adjustments to reduce subluxations were delivered, and by the fifth visit the patient reported complete remission of upper back pain and hand numbness. (5)
Success Story
Headaches, Skin Rashes, Dizziness, Brain Fog,
Slurred Speech, Yeast Infections, Stomach Pain
My name is Vickie C. I'm 51 years old but felt like 80 before I went to see Dr. Horning. I felt sick, tired and totally hopeless this was my last resort.
I went to tons of specialists with no success; I was diagnosed with Epstein Barr, chronic fatigue, pre diabetic, gluten and wheat intolerance. I had headaches, skin rashes, dizziness, brain fog, slurred speech, yeast infections, stomach pain, and then the final straw was mucus in stool.
They asked me if things don't change where do I see myself in 5 years?
My answer was dead!
Dr. Horning listened to me I mean really listened to me. He doesn't make you feel like a hypochondriac. After talking to him he guaranteed me he could help me.
So I put my faith in him and he didn't disappoint me. I have been seeing him for 3 months and I feel like a new person.
I feel 40 now!
I'm symptom free, feel great and thank God every day for Dr. Horning. I can function now, I enjoy life, I work out 5 times a week, and have tons of energy. I feel he gave me my life back.
My sister saw the dramatic change in me so she decided to make an appointment with Dr. Horning. And she is already feeling better. For me walking through Dr. Horning’s door was the best thing I could have ever done for myself I have no regrets.
Thanks Vickie C

The Stanley Cup Final
It’s Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, and a man makes his way to his seat right at center ice. He sits down, noticing that the seat next to him is empty.
He leans over and asks his neighbor if someone will be sitting there. ‘No’ says the neighbor. ‘The seat is empty.’
‘This is incredible,’ said the man. ‘Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Stanley Cup and not use it?‘
The neighbor says, ‘Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. I was supposed to come with my wife, but she passed away.
‘This is the first Stanley Cup we haven’t been to together since we got married.’
‘Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that. That’s terrible… But couldn’t you find someone else, a friend or relative, or even a neighbor to take the seat?’
The man shakes his head. ‘No,’ he says. ‘They’re all at the funeral.’
